Hi,

I am framing up my basement for a new studio. Today, we framed up the control room, which is 11'9" wide x about 26' deep and 7'4" ceilings from floor to bottom of floor joists, so a big rectangle. I didn't go with angled walls for a few different reasons (resale value, loss of space, etc.).

I have over 50 DIY acoustic panels (2x4' 2" panels) that I could use for treatment throughout the basement/studio. I'm wondering if it would be better for me to just fill the rafters in the ceiling in between the floor joists with insulation and cover with fabric, and even do the same on the front wall (behind my monitors) of the control room??? Or, if I should just dry wall it and hang panels like normal???

For the control room, I'm not as concerned about isolation, more about the sound of the room and controlling reflections/frequency problems. (I'm also building a drum room that will be completely decoupled, a room in a room, but that's another thread).

If it's best to just fill studs and ceiling rafters with insulation and cover with fabric, would regular pink insulation be ok or should I get more fiberglass panels to put in there instead?

The flooring is sheet vinyl (looks like hardwood) layed on top of concrete.

Lastly, how are my dimensions above for a control room? I made sure to stay away from a 10'x20', or 11'x22' room, and tried to leave it as long/big as I could. I'll basically be using one full side of the basement as my control room, and the other side for tracking.
