So when's the inauguration, Javier? Isn't it about time we spilled some Pisco Sour on that nice new floor? :)

Very cool thread!! I definitely picked up some good info. My home studio is very similar to yours; two neighboring rooms already built, with only 1 of them being boxed in a box. Hopefully my live room will be big enough for drums though... :?

Hi Javier,
Can I ask you a question please?

I see the aluminium foil you placed on the multicore cable you passed through the wall and which you connected to ground.
How exactly did you do that? Did you connect it on your electrical board and on to the ground from there?

I have a multicore cable with an aluminium shield along it, and I'm wondering how to connect that to ground.
Cheers.

Vakis

I placed the foil over the snake cable an then "wrapped" a copper wire "on" it.. that cable went directly to the ground at the wall's electrical outlet..

Javier

If you just wrapped the copper wire on the foil, as the copper oxidizes you are going to lose ground - i.e. a resistance will form creating a ground potential difference.

The wire should be soldered or otherwise firmly, mechanically attached to the foil. You might need a heavier grade foil, better yet, braided shield mantle.

Hi Guys.
I think I have adquired some knowledge here in order to start my new (small) studio.
My budget is pretty tight (as always) but hopefully I'll make it work ($4000 US) anyway,

you must have gone over budget? It just doesnt seem possible for 4k.

great job BTW
