Well I finally did it and started a thread about my studio build. The studio is in the upstairs of my Barn. The floor space is approx. 50 X 30 feet. The following pictures show the curret state of construction. I started with the unfinished shell of the upstairs. I framed the interior walls and put a second wall against the back of the control room before I found this forum. Since then I have done most of the electrical and the audio wiring. Here are the pictures.

Nice work/pics lbc!

On the pic with the Audio cables...what kind of conduit is that you're using? I've never seen conduit connectors like that.

Thanx!

Camistan,
Thanks the conduit is standard pvc electrical conduit. I used ,I think 2" although it may be 1.5", an LB (a 90 degree elbow with a removable back for cable pulling) with some short peices of conduit attached to allow it to protrude through the wall. I plan on sealing the end of the conduitand stuffing it with insulation. I am thinking of using the electrical clay they use in outdoor conduit where the service cable comes out and in to your electrical meter, for example. Or using the expanding spray foam. then, after the drywall is up i am going to place a piece of wood trim around the condiuts with acoustic caulk. If any one has other ideas please let me know.

LBC......looks fantastic! I will be following your progress with interest. Your situation is very similar to mine.....(ok...well yours is about three times the size......). Mine is over my garage. I will post a slew of pics soon, as I am headlong into equipment install at the moment.

Yours looks like it is going to be a very cool space.

Thanks for the encouragement. I must confess I started the project about 3 years ago, had the framing done in the first 6 months, after having to get a varience from my town to put a "music studio" on the property and then getting a building permit. Since then I have done the electrical (Star Grounding) and the audio cable. and finished the knee walls and other blocking. I have been working after work and on the few weekends I don't have either a gig or some other thing that takes me away from it. And of course here in the northeast in winter it gets dark at 4pm so by the time I get home from work it is dark and cold. However things are looking up this spring. I am very close to being ready for the inspector to come so i can close up the walls. If I had posted these pictures earlier, comments like yours would have inspired me to find the time to get more done, thanks. I will try to keep this updated as I work.

Man, that is one mammouth space! I'd be interested in seeing a pic of the building from the outside. As I said before, that is a much larger, but similar space to mine. I am taking some pics this week and will have them posted...hopefully by weeks end.

Wow, what a gorgeous building building Lbc! The quality of the building is evident from all the pictures so far....and the outside looks simply amazing! That place is going to have a very cool vibe. I can't wait to see more as this thing progresses. As I mentioned, I should have pics to post late this week.
