I'm still waiting for my order of ductliner, taking ages! Everything else of the silencers is ready.
Supply will be from the ceiling, the return will be in the wall at 30 cm from the floor.
In the photo below you see still a part of the ceiling not finished, that's where the supply will be added, waiting till I can install my silencer.

I have got the first 2 layers of the ceiling almost finished, like mentioned needed to keep a space open for my silencer. Hopefully I will have the stuff next week. First layer is gypsem board, 2nd layer MDF. I will wait with the 3 layer until I can close it completely with the silencer in place. Worked hard this weekend..

UPDATE!

I've done a lot over the past 2 weeks, well I'd like to think that. :-)..
The doors are in, last layer of gypsum is applied, first walls of the control room are also done, window borders are made.

I've found the EU equivalent of OC 703. Rockwool apparently it's not Rockwool 223 anymore, they now name it Rockwool Marine Slab 55, however, on the label it still says 223  . Allready picked them up, and hopefully I can start with acoustic treatment on saturday.

This week the plasterer is coming for the walls an ceiling (hopefully allready tonight), he was supposed to come later this week since he first had to finish work in his sisters house, when I was over handing him the keys of my house & studio he told me to make sure water was available for him to access for today. Since I'm not there the whole day and evening, maybe when I get back from band practice around 1-ish at night I'll be surprised :o .

The doors were placed end of may. I have 2 doors, which are both 6 cm thick. They exists of a solid hardwood core, and a thin (1mm) steel plate on both sides of the door finishing up with a 2 mm on both sides. (pics attached).

Bought laminate last saturday, don't have a pic of that yet. The floor will first be layed out with rubber tiles, these tiles are normally used in a gym or some sort. My uncle owns 2 gyms, and on restoration they layed 500m2 in both his gyms. But after 3 weeks they tiles allready started showing damage on the top coating, which is no problem, but it looks ugly. So he got it all out and replaced with something else, and I could pick up the tiles that I needed.. These tiles are firm but good enough to put a layer of laminate on top of it. The tiles are about 15mm thick, and the laminate is 8mm.

Without further ado, here are the pics.

Hai Geert, those doors are ace! Love to see some more details on that :)

What's with the gym floor? what do you hope to achieve, is it so "stabilize" the laminate floor? (it sure wouldn't make the floor "decoupled" since you need lotsa more mass for that floor)

And about your GB walls: ik looks like, according to the screwcount, you've use 30cm between studs? Why's that?

greets, Roman.

Will make sure to upload some good detailed pics of the doors. Really satisfied with them. Cost me 40 euro per door :-)...thank you Marktplaats. Spent about an hour per door reshaping it, but this was with the help of a pro, I probally would have spent all day on it! Pictures coming this weekend, got lots of things to work on this weekend so I'll make a proper photo report.

I was thinking it would work a bit like a decoupled idea. The gym floor bottom layer is 1cm foam with a 5mm hard top coating. On top of that I want to put the laminate. But if anyone here suggests that this doesn't help anything I probally won't do it. Got it for free, so I thought this would be nice to test out.
It's like this stuff (only in Dutch): http://www.helisports.nl/vloermatten/Kr ... m-(4-stuks).html

The pics you see in my last post are of the last gypsum layer, I've got GYPSUM | MDF | GYPSUM. So that last layer was attached to the MDF. I did use 30cm studs behind it tho.

forget it, not worth the pain. Unless you know exactly what you're doing to achieve a *floating* floor I'd skip the gymfloor. I could go in detail on the whys and the hows, but it's been written here on the forum already. you should atleast check out the sticky on floating-floors. (viewtopic.php?t=8173)

Cool, I got the exact same setup except on 60cm spaced studs. The gypsum/mdf/gypsum makes a mass. Thanks to the layer of MDF you've got better options to hang heavy stuff on the wall (better grip for screws). GB and MDF have the same density so that's cool.
About the spacing, 60cm makes the wall a bit less stiff. Concerning sound isolation you want sloppy heavy walls.... Use 120cm sheets of gypsum to accomplish that.

have a nice weekend!

Geert,
Awesome job my friend ..Love the colors. Warm yet bright. Nice contrast.
I also noticed the base board. Love the way you attached it. Simple things can make a bold statement.
Are you finished with isolation and if so how is it working for you.
Peace
Tom

Hi Tom,
Thanks! Isolation is awesome, for a wooden cabin the isolation is good. In front (where the windows are located) it's about 10-15meters to hear absolutelly NOTHING, and in the back, it's about 5 meters and NOTHING, so that's just great.

It's always difficult finding the proper colours, fortunatelly the colours worked out good :)..
I'm now just finishing up the details, but that takes long....

Here's the latest pic, still need to make a cloud. The monitors are now supported by Primacoustics for decoupling, not in this picture yet tho.

Just looked back in this thread, what a ride it's been...wow

Spending 300 euro on a reflection filter didn't fit my budget. So with some materials still around I build this:

I should have a website up soon with more photos and info about my studio.
Already did some projects for friends out of the studio, so far it sounds great!
Ordered the equipment to do measurements, will update it here when I get the chance to do that.

I have to say that I'm really glad with the final outcome of this project, and with the reasonable small budget I had, I made a dream come true.

I want to thank
- all the forum members who showed interest in my project
- the forum members in general
- the members who endeavour on their own project, thank you for your inspirational threads!
- and all the moderators and regular posters that share information with us

A special thanks to:
- Glenn Stanton aka Gulfo
- John Sayers for making this forum available to the public
