slats are up! they look great! hopefully they help the room sound as good as they look.

also did some of the paneling. i'm also very happy with how this came out!

i skipped a few steps in the pics, but you get the idea. also, there is a chain in some pics. i ended up replacing the chain for simple S hooks. . . the chain made the cloud hang too low, it BARELY cleared the top of the vocal booth door. it felt too low when i stood up as well.

I think I am as excited as you must be!!

Looking good!

I see that your slat absorbers are angled. Are the walls behing them also splayed(angled)?

Are you going to put trim at the top of the sofit walls where they meet the ceiing?

Is that roxoul in your cloud?

Is the heat from your lighs in the cloud an issue next to the roxoul, (or whatever that is)?

eruss,

no the walls behind the slats are not angled. these are low-mid range slot resonators. the room was built a rectangle and the resonators are on an angle to vary the depth, in turn, varying the frequencies absorbed.

yes, i am going to put trim where the soffits meet the ceiling. also on the walls around the slats. the only spots not getting trim/base are the slats themselves.

it is 3" Roxul in my cloud. i wanted to go more, but i got scared of the weight, i think if i have any left when i'm done i'll throw a 2x4 sheet or two up in there.

i'm a little nervous about the lights, yes. . .the bulbs are Xenon, which is fairly new for these types of lights. . .and they are WAY cooler than halogen, but i felt them after being on for a few hours, and it still was very HOT. i'm not worried about it with the Roxul though, i AM worried about it against my cloth. i put flame retardant on the cloth, but it still makes me nervous. i may put a strip of that foil heat tape stuff in between the cloth and the lights. we'll see.

THANKS FOR LOOKING THOUGH! i am getting very excited. i feel like i'm all alone, i barely am getting any comments on my build. i wonder if i'm wasting my time posting all these pics.

more pics soon. my other cloud is done, and the floor should be finished this afternoon!

Hey Mike,
No...man you're not alone on here. Hey, afterall, you've got over 2900 views so there ARE people watching. You pretty much had those pics FLYIN' in one right after the other so you've moved along pretty fast! :)

Keep that DREAM flowin'...Build it SAFE and keep the pics coming!

Congrats on the Studio build! :)

thanks for the encouragement camistan!
sometimes it feels like its taking forever, sometimes it feels like i'm hammerin along.

i'm working 98% solo, so it feels nice to say 'i built this'
my uncle helped me hang the HEAVY 5/8" 4x12 gypsum on the ceiling, even with the lift we rented it was nice to have some help.

my first studio a few years ago got a small 'rep' locally, and now that people heard my new spot is almost done, i got somewhat of a buzz going. i'm in somewhat of a small town in NJ, so i'm itchin to make some MUSIC!!!

Me too. I had help for one day on the framing and that is it. I'd be done by now if i had help.

I even did the gypsum on the ceiling by my self just yesterday. Thank God for panel lifts!

Your pics are the most important to me because your build is the most similar to mine. I even have them on my desk top for reference.

So no, you are not alone.

Thank you!

oh yeah, I was wondering.....

Why use hermoltz style resinators as opposed to the kind that you have next to your sofit panel faces? Aren't they broad band as well?

eruss, maybe i'm misunderstanding the question.
the the absorbers to make my RFZ (reflection free zone) ARE Helmholtz-slat resonators, and they ARE next to my soffits.
which are you referring too?

if you're looking at my pics and wondering how i did something, just ask, i don't mind explaining. i spent a TON of hours here researching stuff that i had a hard time answering. it may not be the BEST answer, but it should will be a decent one!

I could not tell the ones next to your sofits are hermoltz. so then they are sealed with caulk in the back next to the wall behind them?

so you have hermoltz broadband absorbers starting next to your sofits then you have a space and then two more?

Does the angle of the ones away from the sofits reflect past your head?

from the pic it almost looks like they would reflect into the side of your ear.
